about

The music on this recording was originally intended to be performed by a band. I wrote and recorded the parts for a drummer, bassist, keyboardist and two guitar players, including myself. A vocalist was also envisioned. The band was to be called "Switch."

I turned 20 years-old in April of 1999 with the intention of creating something that would stand the musical test of time. From everyone else's perspective I must have looked terribly ill from sleep deprivation and poor diet. But my brain was racing with complex music.

At the time, anything remotely resembling the blues on guitar was forced to the back of my brain as I tried to break free of repetitive, habitual playing. I started thinking in odd musical patterns with differentiating time signatures and a whole lot of raw emotions.

Despite some fun rehearsals that took place from mid-to-late 1999, the original songs written for the group are really the only thing that remain from that project, besides the artwork. These songs are featured here in their instrumental nudity, the sheer force from which they were born.

While this record may not stand up to my original intentions when it comes to being a record of the ages, these songs certainly pop into my head from time to time, and I hope someone can enjoy them.

Perhaps the have life yet.

Special thanks go to the Pierce brothers, Mr. Ming and Ms. Tillison.
